Even if Ryu's is weaker it could still in theory scar Sagat. Ken's would simply rip the man in half! Ha!

I'll post the jist of what I said in the podcast tho too.

After Street Fighter added the ability to have a mirror match (SF2turbo was it?) Having Ken and Ryu be exactly the same was wasteful so they went ahead and made them a bit different.

Ryu = more spiritual disciplined fighter so gets better Fireball
Ken = more hot shot showoffy type so gets better Dragon Punch

That's what I think anyways! Did they do it right?

Ryu vs. Ken: The Dragon Punch Ownership

A discussion on GR Podcast #5 poses the question:

If Ryu talks up his super awesome Dragon Punch in SF2, and had defeated Sagat (giving him a gnarly scar) with said Dragon Punch at the end of SF, why is it that KEN gets the more powerful Shoryuken in the rest of the series, while Ryu gets the more powerful Hadoken?

I think, as far as the majority of the hardcore gaming community is concerned, God of War III really is the most anticipated title of 2010. Is it YOURS? No. Mine? No sir. Johnny Sports over there? Probably not. I'm not saying this is how it is, but "they" totally could have looked at all the big games coming out next year and divvied it up into percentages. Like: "Well 10% of the community says Bioshock 2 is their most anticipated title. Well now, 14% said Final Fantasy 13. Would you look at that? A whopping 17% of the community is most looking forward to God of War III. Huh. I guess thats the highest percentage. Nevermind the fact that the other 83% are looking forward to other games. Its all silly marketing. SILLY!

It's the same kind of shit I thought about when I was looking at the "winners" of the Spike VG awards. The only reaction I had to most of them was that someone paid to win.

God of War III does look amazing, but it's hardly the most anticipated game of 2010, for example.

Gamer Reaction Podcast!

So we started doing an audio podcast in addition to our regular show. There's so much to cover and talk about that we can't get into each episode that we thought "why the hell not do a weekly podcast?" <-- actual thought.
Right. So now we have a podcast that we hope will both entertain people and get them excited to see the show show Gamer Reaction, thereby driving traffic to GoodgameTV. Its new and a bit experimental for us, so we'll see how it goes, but so far its been lots of fun. If you get some free time, hit www.gamerreaction.tv and check it out. Any and all feedback/criticisms are very welcome. Any way for us to help get people interested in the show is a step forward! I look forward to hearing what you think!

Yeah, we meet some great people out there! I would totally do a segment called "Alex's Favorite Interviewees" but I'm afraid I'd make people upset if they found that they weren't one of my favorites. So I'll play it safe and just say: "I like the people we talk to".

Episode 2 is up and rockin with Brutal Legend, Castle of Illusion and the triumphant return of classic trivia! We did this in season 1 but it was much simpler in format back then. How did people like watching it this time around? Anyone nail all 10 questions? I think it's safe to say we'll be having a fresh set of questions and contestants in the near future!

Ummm....this happens way more often than you think...

That's how game review sites get games early so they can have reviews on launch day (or before). They make tight partnerships with publishers to endorse products more as marketing than as actual review. Any site that does financially well off of reviews is in bed with the publishers because they're getting paid by the publisher. Otherwise, you live a pretty broke life as a completely unbiased, honest critic unless users pay for your reviews (Zagat, etc.).

Ubisoft demands high Assassin's Creed 2 review score?

We hear about these situations far too much, where a publisher is accused of attempting to broker a guaranteed favorable review from a press outlet. The latest to face such allegations is Ubisoft, having been named and shamed by German magazine Computer Bild Spiele for demanding a high score for Assassin's Creed 2. SCANDAL!

"Our reviews are tough, but fair. We will not give up our independent scores for the sake of a timely review," explains the magazine in its latest issue. "This holds true for Assassin’s Creed 2. The publisher asked us to guarantee the score 'sehr gut,' otherwise we would not receive a review copy, thus we will publish our review in next month’s issue. We’d be more than glad to give the game a ’sehr gut’, but only if it deserves it."

Sehr Gut is essentially Computer Bild Spiele's version of an A-grade, meaning that Ubisoft was only willing to trade a game copy for an incredibly positive review. Of course, asking an outlet to guarantee something like that before they've played the game is asking them to trade in every ounce of integrity they've worked to build, and if these allegations are true, it's a shame that Ubisoft felt the need to barter against someone's self respect like that.

In any case, Computer Bild Spiele has probably ensured that it won't be getting any more games from Ubisoft. Good for them, and let shame rain down on any writer that actually agreed to such shenanigans.
